San Sang is a Force-sensitive Iridonian zabrak girl from the Star Wars universe.
San is kind by nature and independent by necessity. She loves easily and desires trust and a sense of community. The Galactic Empire is the primary barrier preventing San from finding the safety she craves, and she would relish their demise. Like most of her kin, San doesn't accept the idea of submission to anyone who isn't family, lover, or friend. She is willful and anyone looking to direct her behavior will need to act with that in mind.
As a consequence of being raised and educated by political radicals living outside of the law, San makes for an odd but earnest conversationalist. What is normal to her can come across as bizarre to most others and she does not always realize that this is the case. She's been homeless and living alone for the last few years. She travels constantly to avoid attracting attention in any one place. She's willing to befriend and work with nearly any kind of person--as long as they aren't an Imperial! She most often travels in unremarkable clothes to keep people disinterested in her. If she could choose, she would wear colorful outfits and be a very loud and noticeable person.
San has orange-gold skin, red eyes, and russet hair that is long enough to almost reach her shoulders. It is transparently obvious that she cuts it herself. San is slender but reasonably strong for her size given the amount of nutrition she gets. As a zabrak, she is anatomically quite similar to humans, but she cannot sweat, has two hearts, can see in the dark, has no body hair, and is much more tolerant of pain. She has six small, blunt horns growing from her skull--one above each of her eyes, one above each of her ears, and two at the base of her cranium hidden by her hair. Because she has been separated from her family, San has yet to receive facial tattoos typical of her culture that will mark her passage into symbolic adulthood, although she is more than old enough to have them.
The name San Sang is pronounced to rhyme with the phrases swan song, long gone, and all wrong.
Background
When The Empire came into being, Iridonia attempted to resist its influence and control. San's parents and loved ones were part of that rebellion, committing elaborate financial crimes against The Empire for years.
After much work, San's loved ones were arrested--but not before leaving San with their data-tapes full of critical secrets, including the location of obscene quantities of credits. The data-tapes in San's possession are well-encrypted, but expert slicers could get in with some time and effort. San cannot access this information and the money sits collecting interest in many thousands of accounts.
San will do nearly anything she can to prevent The Empire from getting the data-tapes, including destroying them if she absolutely has to. She would like to give the documents to a zabrak who was part of their peoples' resistance if she gets the chance. She would be leery but possibly willing to share the information with high-ranking members of The Alliance to Restore The Republic or even Saw's Partisans and similar groups. Anyone who can help her get the drives to her people can expect a substantial financial reward.
San does not know her parents' fate, but there is a chance that they are alive in captivity. The Imperial Security Bureau would like to capture San primarily to acquire the information she carries, but secondarily to use her as a way to motivate her allies to obey The Empire and confess secrets. If she gets the chance, San would like to find whether or not they are alive and if they are she wants to rescue them.
This responsibility has taken a great toll on San. As a zabrak she is stubborn and loyal enough to stick with it despite the cost. She would never admit this even to herself, but it makes her completely miserable.

The Sang Family
The surname Sang means shaman (source: Galactic Campaign Guide). San's ancestors communicated with the dead and prepared a spice called yarrock, which they administered to warriors before battle. San is slightly Force-sensitive and is occasionally visited by ghosts of deceased Iridonians. She has never tried yarrock but if she did, she would find that she retains a little more clarity than most people when affected by it.
San's mother is Driz Sang and her father is Rath. Rath has no communication with his extended family and took his wife's surname as his own. San does not know why. Driz and Rath are experienced financial experts and spreadsheet jockeys. San inherited their ability to sit and focus on things they wanted to focus on, but doesn't know it yet.
The Sill
San was raised in an Iridonain Resistance cell of eleven adults and herself, living primarily on a ship called The Sill. Most of those other adults were sexually involved with her parents at different times, but San was not aware of this until she was older and separated from the group. All of the adults took turns teaching her and rearing her.

Talents, Skills and Knowledge
San was homeschooled by her family while on the move avoiding The Empire.
Languages & Communication
San speaks Basic and Zabraki natively. She speaks Huttese better than most tourists, but not well. Given the opportunity, she will try to learn any language that she hears around her regularly because it makes it harder for people to speak behind her back and easier to make allies.

Source Material & References
Some quotes from sources that have influenced this character's development.
"They are a strong-willed people who resisted Imperial domination and are known for their incredible willpower. They are able to endure intense physical pain and torture without breaking their resolve. For this reason, Zabraks made terrible slaves, and the Imperial governors who tried to conquer them faced strong, united opposition from underground movements. They are stubborn almost to a fault, though it was this and their resolve that gave them more independence during the dark years of the Empire. Despite being made examples of for other races, having their worlds garrisoned and their industrial base largely destroyed, and being taxed into poverty and denied medical care to the point of genocide, the Zabrak resisted. The Zabrak drive for self-determination and independence has its basis in a deep respect for life, despite their long and rich martial history or, perhaps, because of it. Zabraks were active in the galactic species rights movement even before their species was targeted by the Empire." From Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Alien Species pg.190
